This SE Portland home had a leaking underground heating oil tank discovered after taking soil samples during a real estate transaction.  In order to meet the DEQ regulations the only options for remediating this site were soil removal by excavation or to demonstrate that contamination left on site would not pose a human or ecological health risk.  The excavation option was going to be expensive due to the high cost of site restoration.  We were able to save our client money by using state of the art soil vapor sampling techniques and risk based assessment in lieu of excavation.
