Commercial & Municipal Radon Services

Environmental Works tests for radon gas in a variety of commercial and municipal buildings, including multifamily housing, new construction, office spaces, retail stores, schools and universities, community centers, gyms, restaurants, and more. We conduct short-term and long-term radon tests depending on the client’s needs, utilizing one or a combination of these radon test kits or devices. EWorks staff are certified in conducting the most accurate measurements of radon by intelligently choosing testing locations in accordance with the Protocol for Conducting Measurements of Radon and Radon Decay Products In Schools and Large Buildings (ANSI/AARST MALB-2014).  For more information on our AARST-NRPP radon testing methods, see our Radon Testing page.

New Construction Passive Radon Systems 

As of April 2011 the State of Oregon adopted senate bill 1025 establishing minimum requirements for radon resistant new construction.  The state of Washington adopted similar radon system requirements years prior.

New residential and multi family structures must now have a minimum passive radon mitigation system according to EPA radon mitigation standards. These design standards are found in Appendix F of the Oregon Residential Specialty Code. The standards were adopted and implemented due to the risks associated with radon gas exposure in buildings and the simplicity and effectiveness of these systems when designed into the rough structure of the building. New construction systems often outperform retrofit systems for a lower installed cost, when installed correctly.
